Kewa (Santo Domingo) Pueblo
Jimmy F. Calabaza—known professionally as “Ca’Win”—is a celebrated jeweler from Kewa Pueblo (formerly known as Santo Domingo Pueblo), New Mexico. A master of both traditional Pueblo beadwork and contemporary design, Ca’Win is especially revered for his handmade turquoise beads—cut, shaped, and polished by hand—along with his powerful heavy-gauge silverwork and meticulous lapidary and inlay.
Collectors often recognize Ca’Win’s work through signature elements like his distinctive
“Side Box” necklace style, hand-fabricated silver components, and the bold presence his pieces have on the body—substantial, sculptural, and meant to be worn for a lifetime. His materials frequently include sterling silver and turquoise—often Kingman turquoise—alongside stones and shell such as coral, spiny oyster, and mother-of-pearl.
Ca’Win’s career spans decades, with a long history of recognition at major Native art markets and competitions. His work has also been featured in respected publications and represented through notable galleries and institutions, reflecting both his technical mastery and enduring influence in Southwestern Indigenous jewelry.
Authenticity note: Ca’Win’s jewelry is authenticated with the hallmark “Ca’Win Sterling.”
