Jewelry Evaluations & Value Guidance

Have a piece you’d like to understand better? We offer a thorough evaluation
service to help you learn more about what you own—its likely origin, maker/tribal affiliation (when possible), approximate age, materials and a fair-market value range based on comparable sales and current collector demand.

Important note:We are not licensed appraisers, and our reports are not intended for insurance claims, estates, or legal proceedings.

What we typically provide in our Evaluation Reports…

  • Artist identification and/or tribal affiliation (when hallmarks and construction support it).

    • Hallmarks help—but we can often infer from workmanship and our deep knowledge
      of indigenous jewelry from different tribes, artists, and eras in craftsmanship.

  • Approximate age/era of your piece

  • Materials and construction notes

  • Collector context

    • We can let you know how desirable your item might be among collectors,
      particularly if it’s a rare, unusual, or unique piece of craftsmanship.

  • Fair-market value guidance

  • Comparable pieces and values whenever possible

  • Important note (re: turquoise): We typically can’t confirm with certainty the mine/origin of the turquoise. Even stones from the same mine can look wildly different. And just like anything else, turquoise stones “age” over time. We recommend contacting turquoise testing centers like Albuquerque’s Turquoise Museum or the West Texas Analytical Lab.

DETAILS & PRICING:

  • Each Navajewelry Evaluation Report is priced at $100 per item. For larger collections, please reach out for a custom quote.

  • Reports will be completed within a 6-week timeline, and will be delivered electronically on Navajewelry letterhead, both as a PDF and as a Word Document.

  • We will start on your report(s) as soon as payment is rendered.

  • Please note: If you need your report(s) sooner, we are happy to provide and expedited timeline for an additional fee. Please indicate that on the form at the right.


REQUIREMENTS FOR EVALUATIONS:

  • Please send clear photos (front/back/sides) of each piece. Natural light is best. Avoid harsh flash if possible.

  • Please also include clear, close-up photos of any hallmarks/signatures on each piece.

  • Weight (if possible) and measurements of each piece.

  • Any known history, provenance, and details you have about each piece. The more the better! Any detail, no matter how small, can be helpful—especially if you know when and where it was purchased/gifted.

  • Please note: This form can only support 5 attachments, which may not be enough for all your pieces. Either include a zip file(s) with all your images, or send me an email (info@navajewelryshop.com). Or you can include a link to a DropBox folder or another cloud storage platform.
